This conference is not far away, so I thought that I would announce it here.
Religion and Reason in the American Founding
Friday, December 3, 2010
Holy Cross University
Worcester, MA
Rehm Library
Religion and reason were dominant and competing themes at the time of the American founding. Leading political thinkers sought to make biblical faith and scientific inquiry compatible. This conference explores how this Enlightenment era effort shaped American politics and civil society.
Talks in each of the panels run for about 25-30 minutes, with 5-10 minutes each for discussion. The final session of the day gives the presenters a chance to discuss in roundtable fashion the themes and cumulative questions that arise during the presentations.
This conference is open to the Holy Cross community and to members of the public. There is no cost and no pre-registration to attend.
